Bears Look to Orange Out SoCon Foes this Weekend

Mercer hosts Wofford Friday, Furman Saturday
MACON, Ga. – Mercer (11-10, 4-6 SoCon) will open its five-match home stand this weekend as it hosts Wofford at 6 p.m. on Friday and Furman at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Hawkins Arena.

Friday's match – which will be broadcasted on ESPN+ – is an "Orange Out", where fans are encouraged to wear their Mercer Orange. The first 50 fans to attend Friday's match will receive a free T-shirt. The Bears are currently tied for fifth in the Southern Conference standings while both Wofford (12-11, 5-5) and Furman (9-12, 5-5) are tied for fourth.

SERIES HISTORY
Mercer trails Wofford 9-8 in their overall series and most recently fell to the Terriers in straight sets in Spartanburg, S.C. on Sept. 29. The Bears also fell to the Paladins earlier this season, on Sept. 28, and trail 16-5 in their all-time series.

SCOUTING WOFFORD
Taylor Gill leads Wofford and the SoCon in digs, averaging 5.41 per set. Catie Cronister leads Wofford's offense with 281 kills for the season and ranks third among league players with 33 service aces. Colleen Reilly helps back the defense, notching 1.05 blocks per set 86 total for the season. The Terriers most recently fell to Western Carolina, 3-1, whom the Bears have defeated twice.

Just like Wofford, the Paladins dropped their most recent match to Western Carolina, 3-1. Hunter Thompson is the key to Furman's offense, ranking third in the league with 10.64 assists per set. Meg DeMaar is not only a defensive threat by averaging 4.88 digs per set but also an offensive presence with 28 service aces.

- Roberta Todd ranks sixth in leading attackers for averaging 3.08 kills per set.
- Emilee Wissmach ranks ninth in the SoCon with 3.26 digs per set.
