Bears Head to the Palmetto State to Face The Citadel

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's soccer squad will take their talents on the road, traveling to Charleston, S.C. to face The Citadel Bulldogs this Friday at 3 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Mercer has never dropped a point to The Citadel, owning a perfect 5-0 all-time record against the Bulldogs. In their last meeting (10/25/18), the Bears blanked the Bulldogs 3-0 in the opening round of the Southern Conference Tournament.

NOTABLES

The Bears' 2-1 victory over Jacksonville State (9/9/18) marked Head Coach Tony Economopoulos' 70^th career win at Mercer. Economopoulos became the winningest coach in program history earlier this season when Mercer shutout Davidson (8/31/18) 3-0.
Mercer leads not only the Southern Conference but also the nation in goals scored, netting 35 on the season. Mercer is also first in the conference in total points (94).
Mercer leads the Southern Conference in corners with 90 on the season, for an average of 6.43 per outing.
The Bears aggressive style of play has the team atop the league in total fouls, racking up 147 on the year.
Sophomore forward Abigail Zoeller is first leads the league in nearly all offensive stats. Zoeller ranks first in shots (58), points (24), goals (9) and assists (6).
Fifteen different Bears have scored this season, which leads the nation in most players with at least one goal.
Jordyn Ebert has seen 1042 minutes in goal and has 45 saves, a .789 save percentage and a 1.04 goals against average.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
The Citadel enters Friday's matchup holding a 7-5 record, most recently topping VMI 4-3 last Sunday. The Citadel is just behind Mercer in shots (240), points (75), goals (26) and assists (23). The Bulldogs are led by Logan Dix who leads the team in points (15) and goals (6). Kelly Brahmbhatt has seen the majority of time in front of the net for The Citadel this season recording one shutout. Brahmbhatt has allowed 21 goals and holds a .687 save percentage. The Bulldogs are coached by Ciaran Traquair who enters his third season at the helm.

Following play this weekend, the Bears will continue their final road swing of the season, traveling to Spartanburg, S.C. to face the Wofford Bulldogs next Friday, Oct. 12. Start time is 7 p.m.
