Bears to Spar with Spartans in Final Non-Conference Battle

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Bears will play their final non-conference match at Betts Stadium tomorrow night at 7 p.m. against the Spartans of USC Upstate. Mercer (7-2-2) will aim to improve to 2-1-1 in home contests, as well as close out the non-conference schedule with a 7-2-2 mark.

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Mercer is 4-2-1 all-time against the former ASUN foe. The Bears most recently met the Spartans on Oct. 4, 2013, earning the 3-1 victory in Macon, Ga. Mercer has won the last two matches against USC Upstate and are 2-0-1 in the last three outings with the Spartans, earning a 0-0 tie in 2011. USC Upstate last defeated Mercer on Oct. 10, 2009.

USC Upstate is being outscored 28-10 in nine matches, allowing three or more goals in five different outings. Cam Philpot leads the Spartans in points (8) and in goals scored (4). Seven players have scored this season with Philpot being the only multi-goal scorer on the squad.
