Bears Look to Defend Idle Hour Collegiate Title

Mercer to host 12 teams at Idle Hour Golf Club in Macon
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's golf team will look to defend its two consecutive titles at the third-annual Idle Hour Collegiate Championship, held at Idle Hour Golf & Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.

The 54-hole, two-day tournament will feature a field of 13 teams, including Mercer and two Southern Conference opponents (UNCG and Western Carolina). Rounds one and two will be played on Monday and round three will be played on Tuesday; both days will start with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring is available via Golfstat.com.

Mercer defended its home course with wins at the 2016 and 2017 Idle Hour Collegiate Championships, shooting +33 and +43, respectively, in both tournaments. Redshirt junior Payton Schanen was the individual co-champion last year, shooting +6 (222), while senior Terese Romeo tied for third at +7 (223).

ABOUT IDLE HOUR GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
Idle Hour Golf Club serves as the Mercer women's golf team's primary practice facility. One of the most prestigious golf clubs in the state of Georgia, Idle Hour originally opened in 1912 and was designed by the legendary Donald Ross. It is comprised of beautifully manicured Georgia landscape interspersed with Bent grass greens and Bermuda fairways.
Idle Hour has served as the host site for Mercer's Idle Hour Collegiate Championship since 2016. The 18-hole golf course is 6,006 yards of challenging play, equating to a par-72 layout. Idle Hour has a state-of-the-art Learning Center with a large driving range. A six-hole Par-3 golf course is located at the Learning Center.

IDLE HOUR COLLEGIATE PAR-3 SHOOT-OUT
All 13 teams will participate in the Mizuno Par-3 Shoot-Out on Sunday following lunch at the A.J. "Duck" Swann, Jr. Memorial Par-3 Course in Macon. The shoot-out champion will earn her team Mizuno wedges. Rules for the shoot-out will be furnished on site.
