Â

Mercer caught fire in the final two minutes after trailing 12-6, outscoring Bowling Green 10-2 to take the two-point advantage heading into the second quarter. Mercer's post players scored six of the final 10 points in the quarter, led by Thompson with four.
Â
The second quarter proved to be a spurt of runs as the Falcons began the quarter on an 8-0 run to take the six-point lead. The Bears then responded with a 12-0 run for a six-point advantage of their own. Rachel Selph buried six points during the run, while KeKe Calloway tallied four of her 10 points during the stretch.
Â
Bowling Green outscored Mercer in the third quarter, 24-18, clinging to a one-point advantage with one quarter to play. COACH'S CORNER
On the play of the posts:
"We have been trying to make it a point to get more point production out of our two senior post players. Part of it is getting them the ball and the other part is them wanting the ball. I thought Rachel really proved that today, but Amanda's stat line was incredible all the way around. It was a team effort, but Amanda willed us to the win today."
Â
Winning the rebound battle:
"We were embarrassed last game with the rebound numbers. We have to make a conscious effort to fundamentally box out. We had several points of emphasis that we needed to get better at today. We will continue to get better but it will be a day-to-day, game-to-game battle. I am pleased with how we bounced back today."
Â
Ability to knock down free throws
"This is the first game that we really got to the line a lot. Our posts were 100% from the line. We have been settling on outside shots and not trying to draw fouls. You have to make the effort to get to the line and we did that today."
