Mercer looks to continue winning streak

MACON, Ga. – Mercer (14-11, 7-7 SoCon) will close its five-match home stand by hosting The Citadel at Hawkins Arena in a mid-week battle on Wednesday, Nov. 7.

The Bears are currently tied for third in the Southern Conference Standings while The Citadel (10-16, 5-9) sits in last. The match will feature a live broadcast and live stats will be available.

SERIES HISTORY
Mercer leads The Citadel 10-1 in its overall series and most recently sweeping the Bulldogs in straight sets in Charleston, S.C. on Oct. 10.

SCOUTING THE CITADEL
Sharlissa De Jesus leads the Bulldogs offense, averaging 3.92 kills per set and totaling 35 service aces for the season. Megan Fuhr leads The Citadel in assists per set, registering 8.58. The Bulldogs have defeated UNCG (3-1), Western Carolina (3-2) and Chattanooga (3-0), who the Bears have fallen to at least once. The Bulldogs also upset Furman, 3-2, whom Mercer did not overcome this season.

NOTABLES

Mercer is 8-3 at home this season, having only lost to UNCG, ETSU and Furman.
Mercer ranks higher than The Citadel in all seven statistical categories, including: hitting percentage (.214), opponent hitting percentage (.189), assists (12.10), kills (13.00), blocks (1.83), service aces (1.29) and digs (15.20).
Maddie Nunley earned the SoCon Offensive Player of the Month for her performances in October.
Nunley leads Mercer in assists (825). She ranks third in the league with 10.71 per set.
Paige Alsten leads the Bear's offense as well as the league in hitting percentage (.343) and fifth in kills per set (3.34).
Alsten leads the Bears in blocks, totaling 82 for the season. Alexia Morey follows closely behind, recording 76.
Roberta Todd ranks sixth in leading attackers for averaging 3.01 kills per set.
Emilee Wissmach ranks seventh in the SoCon with 3.52 digs per set, tying her season-high of 22 digs in the win against Samford on Saturday.
Brittany Major, Annie Karle and Roberta Todd have all notched double-digit kills in the last five out six matches.
Megan Smith leads the Bears with 25 total service aces for the season.
