Mercer tied for sixth in season-opening meet

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Four program records fell as Mercer tied for sixth at the Savannah State Eyeopener on Saturday at Theodor A. Wright Stadium.

Mercer won the 4x100 meter and 4x400 meter relay events with record-setting times while adding new school records in the high jump and long jump as well.

The quartet of Marion Meadows, Lauryn Dancy, Tessola Duncan and Sydney Campbell ran the 4x100 meter relay in a program-best time of 47.35. Meadows, Dancy and Duncan were then joined by Madison Mueller as they won the 4x400 meter relay in a record time of 3:58.69.

Campbell additionally finished second in the long jump finals (5.25 meters) after she broke the school record with a 5.80-meter performance in preliminaries. Mercer's fourth broken record of the day was by Myranda Ham, who placed 10th in the high jump (1.46 meters).

Mercer excelled in the 1,500-meter run with Courtney Czerniak (5:09.07), Ania Grzeszczak (5:15.41) and Marina Van Sickle (5:27.22) claiming top-eight finishes. Cherrish Wright also snagged a top-seven finish in the 100-meter hurdles (19.14).
