Bears Open Southern Conference Play with Chattanooga Tuesday

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Bears' men's tennis team will return to action, opening Southern Conference play by hosting the Chattanooga Mocs this Tuesday, March 13. Play is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.

Scouting the Mocs
Chattanooga enters Tuesday's matchup with a .500 record of 6-6. The Mocs most recently dropped a 7-0 decision at Georgia Southern (3/4/18). Sophomore Niklas Gerdes has played at the No. 1 singles slot for the Mocs this season, posting a 7-4 record on the year. Five players on the Mocs' roster are from the state of Tennessee with the other three players coming from overseas. Chuck Merzbacher is serving in his first season as the men's tennis head coach, bringing 28 years of NCAA Division I head coaching experience.
