Smith, Morin Earn Player of the Week Honors

Mercer sweeps Southern Conference weekly awards
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer attacker Caitlin Smith and midfielder Lily Morin were named the Southern Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week (March 6-13) for their performances against Presbyterian, as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Smith notched a Mercer career-high four goals, four shots on goal and five total shots. The sophomore from Westhampton Beach, N.Y., is tied for fourth in the SoCon in goals averaged per game (1.83), points per game (3.00), and free position goals per game (0.50). Smith is also tied for first in the SoCon for game-winning goals.
Morin set career-highs with two goals, four shot, and four shots on goal. The sophomore from Marietta, Ga., tied her career-high of two caused turnovers, two draw controls and one assist. Morin also notched three groundballs in the 21-7 win over Presbyterian College.
The two honors give Mercer four total SoCon weekly awards through six games played. Smith, Morin and the Bears (3-3) will host Louisville at Five Star Stadium at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 14.
