Mercer finishes 54-hole event with fifth-best round in the field
GREENSBORO, Ga. – Mercer shot a two-over-par 290 in the final round of the Linger Longer Invitational on Tuesday to improve two spots for a 12th-place finish at its co-hosted tournament at Great Waters at Reynolds Lake Oconee.

Two Bears – Stanton Schorr and Jerry Ren – shot one-under-par 71 in the final round to end the 54-hole event on a strong note.

Mercer on the Team Leaderboard
Mercer finished ahead of Charlotte (+24), Troy (+27), Michigan (+35) and Akron (+51) for sole possession of 12th place. The Bears were just five shots outside of the top 10.

Mercer on the Individual Leaderboard
Stanton Schorr (+2), Spencer Ball (+5) and Jerry Ren (+11) all improved at least eight spots individually with Schorr leading the way to a tie for 25th overall. Schorr and Ren both shot one-under-par 71 to give Mercer four rounds this tournament at 71 or under.

"The guys were much improved today with a two-over-par team score in the final round in Greensboro," said head coach Kirk Kayden. "We dealt with a lot of wind and tough pin placements, so it was encouraging to see our guys battle through those elements and play a strong round.

"We had the fifth-best score of the day and moved up a couple spots. A few guys came through down the stretch for us as well."

Mercer will take two weeks off before heading to Nashville, Tenn. for its final regular season tournament, the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate (April 9-11).
