Bears' Season Comes to an End Falling 4-0 at Chattanooga Friday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Mercer Bears' women's tennis team saw their season come to an end, falling 4-0 to the Chattanooga Mocs Friday afternoon in the opening round of the Southern Conference Tournament.

The Mocs gained early momentum, rallying back to win the doubles competition. Mercer's No. 3 Marie Mottet and Anna Sovic topped Delaney Edwards and Annie Tarwater, 6-3. Chattanooga then took court No. 2 as Caroline Hall and Bogdana Zaporezhets' 6-2 victory over Christie Cesarini and Celine Schepers. Chatt grabbed the doubles point as Samantha Caswell and Emma Van Hee topped Katie Sidor and Grace Korta, 6-4.

Chattanooga stretched to a 2-0 lead as No. 5 Van Hee downed Roquebert, 6-1, 6-4. Once again the Mocs would add another point with Edwards defeating Schepers, 6-2, 6-4. Chattanooga's Zaporozhets clinched the match defeating Sovic, 6-3, 6-4.
