
Kyle Lewis Selected to 2018 All-Star Futures Game

Mercer great will play for Team U.S. on July 15 in Washington, D.C.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Former Mercer standout and current Seattle Mariners minor league outfielder Kyle Lewis was named to the Team United States roster for the 2018 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on Friday.

The All-Star Futures Game will be played at 4 p.m. (ET) on Sunday, July 15 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. and will be broadcast live on MLB Network. For more information on the Futures Game, click here.

Lewis, who turns 23 on July 13, is batting .262 (43-for-164) with 18 runs, 14 doubles, five home runs and 27 RBI in 41 games with high-A Modesto this season. He was named to the North Division All-Star team for the Midwest League All-Star Game on June 19 in Lancaster, Wash. The outfielder has heated up of late, reaching base safely in 17 of his last 20 games dating back to June 9.

Since leaving Mercer, Lewis is a career .269 hitter with 73 runs, 28 doubles, six triples, 15 home runs and 84 RBI in 120 career games over parts of three minor league seasons in the Mariners organization.

A native of Snellville, Ga., Lewis starred for Mercer from 2014-16. His illustrious collegiate career was highlighted by earning the 2016 Golden Spikes Award, given annually to the top amateur baseball player in the nation. He was the No. 11 overall pick by Seattle in the 2016 MLB First-Year Player Draft following the conclusion of his junior season.
