Pair of freshmen lead Mercer’s men and women

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Mercer men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Commodore Classic, hosted by Vanderbilt, at Percy Warner Park on Saturday.

Ten total Bears ran in the meet, including six women as Mercer placed 18th in the women's 5K race. Freshmen Hannah Corson (19:17.40) and Vladi Zander-Velloso (26:39.30) led Mercer's women and men, respectively.

Zander-Velloso was followed by sophomore Sean Parker, freshman Scotty McKenzie and junior Marc Reiser in the men's 8K race.

Both of Mercer's teams will compete next on Sept. 29. Mercer's men will compete at the Louisville Invitational while the women will travel to Spartanburg, S.C. for the Upstate Invitational.
