MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis team continues its road swing with a trip to Auburn, Ala. for a pair of doubleheaders this weekend. The Bears are set for two matches with No. 25 Auburn, as well as one with Central Arkansas and Alabama A&M.

Scouting the Tigers
Auburn will open its 2019 spring slate with a match against Central Arkansas earlier in the day on Saturday before facing Mercer. The Tigers return six letter winners from the 2018 team that posted a 20-11 overall record (8-5 SEC) and made its sixth straight NCAA Tournament. Auburn is led by head coach Lauren Spencer, who is entering her eighth season at the helm.
Scouting the Bears
Central Arkansas will kick off their season with a match against Alabama A&M Saturday morning. The Bears finished the 2018 season posting a 14-7 overall record, going 7-4 in Southland play. The Bears bring back a strong core of experienced seniors including QiLi Ma who has posted a 41-22 singles record during her time in Conway. The Bears are led by first year head coach, Casey Wharton.Â
Scouting the Bulldogs
This weekend will serve as opening play for Alabama A&M. The Bulldogs finished the 2018 season posting a 4-12 overall record, going 3-6 in SWAC play. Alabama A&M has a roster filled with international experience, with half the team from overseas. Willis Mbandi is the head coach of the program and is entering his first season at the helm.

The women's team will return to action next weekend as they head to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to take on the Crimson Tide on Jan. 26, 2019.
