Brie Pavol scored the winning goal and extended the Bears win streak to four
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Brie Pavol scored in the 104th minute of the match lifting the Mercer women's soccer team to a 2-1 double-overtime victory over ETSU Friday night. The win for Mercer is its 13th win of the season and extended its winning streak to four straight.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Early in the first half, the Bucs scored the first goal of the match. Anjela Kricak and Pamela Penaloza recorded assists on the goal as Beatrice Abati scored in the 15th minute of the match putting the Bucs ahead, 1-0. The Bears had nine corner kicks in the first half but could not get a shot on goal and trailed 1-0 at halftime.

The game remained in favor of the Bucs, 1-0, until late in the contest. In the 86th minute of the match, Amaya Evans took a shot from outside the box. The Bucs goalie made the save and Nicole Icen collected the rebound and scored tying the game at 1-1. The game remained tied and went to overtime.

After a scoreless first overtime, the Bears and Bucs headed to a second overtime. In the 104th minute of the match, the Bears took its 15th corner kick of the game. Abigail Zoeller took the corner kick and after the ball ricochet off a Bucs defender, it went off Brie Pavol for a goal giving the Bears a 2-1 victory. Â

The Bears return to action on Sunday, Oct. 20 when they travel to Cullowhee, N.C. to face Western Carolina in SoCon action. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. from the Catamount Athletic Complex.

- Mercer earned its 13th win of the season Friday night; the most wins in the SoCon. The 13 wins for Mercer are the second most wins since 2014 when they won 14 matches.
- Nicole Icen scored her tenth goal of the season in the win. She now has 22 points for the season, leading the Bears.
