Bears Fall Short against Samford

MACON, Ga.–  The Bears volleyball squad fell to conference foe Samford 0-3 Wednesday night at Hawkins Arena.

Mercer lost in straight sets against Samford going 19-25, 24-26, and 23-25.

MERCER VS SAMFORD
Set One (19-25) | Alexia Morey put the Bears on the boards first with a block and then with a kill. Mercer would keep it within four but the Bulldogs would go on a 6-2 run to end the set. Â

Set Two (24-26) | The Bulldogs started out strong in the second set but the Bears would claw their way back and make it a back-and-forth game. Jaida Howell recorded five kills in the set but it wouldn't be enough to stop Samford from taking the last four points to end the set.

Set Three (23-25) | It was another back-and-forth battle in the last set between the Bears and the Bulldogs. Britany Major had a kill and a block to help the Bears out. Emilee Wissmach served up two aces to keep Mercer in it but Samford's own Grace Tiesman ended the match with a kill.
