Mercer Hosts Wofford and The Citadel in Weekend Matchup

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Bears will welcome Wofford and The Citadel this weekend for conference play. The Bears will take on Wofford Friday night at 7 p.m. Then they will play against The Citadel on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.

The Terriers are coming off a 3-2 win against Chattanooga last Friday night. Head coach Lynze Roos enters her fifth season at the helm. Wofford is ranked fourth in the SoCon, going 4-4 in the conference. Their losses come from Samford, ETSU, Western Carolina, and The Citadel. Junior Riley Coonan leads the team in blocks with 91.0.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 3-2 win against Chattanooga last Saturday. They will play Samford Friday night at 8 p.m. Dave Zelenock enters his second season as head coach. The Citadel is ranked eighth in the conference, going 2-6. Their only wins comes against Wofford and Chattanooga. Junior Mellanie King leads the team in kills, recording 197 kills on the season.

Saturdays match will be Dig Orange night to show support for Jay's Hope, an organization to help kids fight their cancer battles. The team will host a silent auction on a game-worn jersey. All proceeds will go to the organization.
