Mercer Hosts Wofford and The Citadel in Weekend Matchup

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Bears will welcome Wofford and The Citadel this weekend for conference play. The Bears will take on Wofford Friday night at 7 p.m. Then they will play against The Citadel on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
The Bears and Terriers are tied in the all-time series 10-10. The last meeting was back in September, the Terriers taking the match 3-1. The Bears have only lost one match against The Citadel in the 13 times they have met. The last time was last month, the Bears taking the match in five sets.

NOTABLES

Freshman Jaida Howell leads the Southern Conference in hitting percentage and leads the team in total blocks.
Mercer leads the SoCon in kills by opponents, assists by opponents, and digs by opponents, holding their opponents to 10.57 kill average per set, 9.71 assists average per set, and 11.63 dig average per set.
Annie Karle recorded four service aces against Furman on Friday, her second highest of the season, her first being five against Southern.

SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
The Terriers are coming off a 3-2 win against Chattanooga last Friday night. Head coach Lynze Roos enters her fifth season at the helm. Wofford is ranked fourth in the SoCon, going 4-4 in the conference. Their losses come from Samford, ETSU, Western Carolina, and The Citadel. Junior Riley Coonan leads the team in blocks with 91.0.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
The Bulldogs are coming off a 3-2 win against Chattanooga last Saturday. They will play Samford Friday night at 8 p.m. Dave Zelenock enters his second season as head coach. The Citadel is ranked eighth in the conference, going 2-6. Their only wins comes against Wofford and Chattanooga. Junior Mellanie King leads the team in kills, recording 197 kills on the season.

Saturdays match will be Dig Orange night to show support for Jay's Hope, an organization to help kids fight their cancer battles. The team will host a silent auction on a game-worn jersey. All proceeds will go to the organization.
