Mercer sets single season school record with 15 wins
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's soccer team won its 15th match of the season, a single season school record, Sunday afternoon at Betts Stadium. Mercer defeated Furman, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Betts Stadium.
The win for Mercer was its second straight and the Bears were a perfect 10-0 at Betts Stadium this season. The loss for Furman was its first conference loss of the season.
Mercer finished 7-2 in the SoCon and finished tied for third place.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bears (15-3, 7-2 SoCon) wasted little time taking the lead over the top team in the SoCon. In the second minute of play, Abigail Zoeller found Ciara Whitely in the box. Whitely took the shot and scored putting the Bears ahead, 1-0. Fifteen minutes later, the Paladins (12-5-1, 7-1-1 SoCon) committed a foul in the box. Zoeller took the PK and scored extending the lead to 2-0.

Furman continued to put pressure on the Bears defense in the second half as they had five shots on goal. Bears goalkeeper Jordyn Ebert recorded five saves in the second half to keep the Paladins off the scoreboard.
