Mercer Heads Out to Take on ETSU, Western Carolina

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Bears will head to Johnson City, Tenn. to battle the ETSU Bucs on Friday night at 6 p.m. The Bears will then head to Cullowhee, N.C. to go toe to toe with Western Carolina Catamounts at 6 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
ETSU leads the all-time series against the Bears. The last meeting was early October, the Bucs taking the match in straight sets. The Bears have won nine of the 24 meetings against WCU. The last matchup was last month, the Bears falling in five sets.

NOTABLES

Mercer earned back-to-back conference sweeps, against Wofford and The Citadel, for the first time in school recorded history.
Jaida Howell continues to lead the conference in hitting percentage with .340.
Freshman Nadya Williams recorded her first three kills of her career in the match against Samford.
Mercer is ranked in the top five for hitting percentage, assists, kills, blocks, and service aces in the SoCon.

SCOUTING THE BUCS
The Bucs are coming off a 3-0 sweep against UNCG on Saturday. They are led by first year head coach Benavia Jenkins. ETSU is ranked second in the Southern Conference, only losing to Furman in five sets. Senior Kaela Massey leads the team in kills with 246, averaging 3.00 kills a set.

SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Western Carolina is coming off a 3-0 sweep against Furman at home on Saturday. They will host Chattanooga tomorrow before they play Mercer. Head coach Karen Glover is two wins away from having the most overall victories in Catamount history. Senior Meagan Sanchez has recorded 477 digs on the season, only 34 away from tying her career high.
