Mercer Returns to LeRoy Peddy to Host UAB Wednesday

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis team returns to the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center to play host to the UAB Blazers this Wednesday, Feb. 27. The match was originally scheduled for 10 a.m. but will now begin at noon. Mercer's match with Savannah State that was scheduled for Wednesday has been rescheduled to April 10.

Scouting the Blazers
UAB will enter Wednesday's matchup holding an identical 3-7 record as the Bears. The Blazers are currently on a two-match skid, most recently falling to Tulane, 4-1. UAB is 0-1 against the SoCon this season, dropping a 4-1 decision to Samford last week. Hana Sisirak holds the best singles record for the Blazers, winning four matches straight, with a 4-1 mark. UAB's top pairing of Marlene Hermann and Alex Schipakina have posted a 5-3 record at the No. 1 doubles slot. The Blazers are led by head coach Mark Tjia who is serving in his fifth season at UAB.
Next Up
The women's team will return to action on Thursday, March 7, as the Bears travel to Jacksonville, Ala. to compete with the Gamecocks of Jacksonville State. Play is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. (ET)
