Mercer wins eighth straight match in thrilling fashion

ELON, N.C. – Celine Schepers earned a match-clinching, straight-sets victory in the No. 4 seed to help the Mercer women's tennis team defeat Elon, 4-3, on Monday at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

The Bears improved to 10-7 overall with their eighth straight victory after a 2-7 start. Elon fell to 7-8.

Mercer took the doubles point as Katie Sidor and Schepers defeated Elon's Uma Nayar and Suzanne Zenoni, 6-0, in the No. 2 match and Marie Mottet and Anna Sovic defeated Olivia Archer and Montana Moore, 6-2, in the No. 3 match.

Sidor, Schepers and Sovic all earned straight-set wins in singles play, with Sovic and Schepers earning the final points of the day in the No. 6 and No. 4 matches, respectively.
