Bears Host Pair of Michigan Teams this Weekend

Mercer opens SoCon play with two home matches vs. Detroit Mercy, Central Michigan
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's lacrosse team will open its Southern Conference schedule this weekend by facing a pair of Michigan foes, Detroit Mercy and Central Michigan, at Five Star Stadium.

The Bears kick off the weekend at 4 p.m. Friday against the Titans before challenging the Chippewas at 12 p.m. (noon) on Sunday. Both contests will be streamed on the SoCon Digital Network.

SERIES HISTORY
Mercer and Detroit Mercy are tied, 3-3 in their all-time series. The Bears defeated Detroit Mercy, 17-16, in double overtime on the road before pulling off another thrilling win, 18-17, in the first round of the SoCon Tournament last season.

The Bears lead Central Michigan, 2-1, in their all-time series. The two teams squared off in Mount Pleasant, Mich. last season, when the Bears were defeated, 15-13.

SCOUTING DETROIT MERCY
The Titans open their conference schedule by traveling to Macon, Ga. to take on the Bears. Detroit Mercy's offense is led by Lexie Kinmond who has recorded 19 goals and 19 assists. Kaitlyn Wandelt leads the circle with 59 draw controls for the season. Allison McDonough has garnered all eight starts for the Titans, defending the pipes with 77 saves and a .391 save percentage.

Central Michigan will travel to Georgia to challenge Kennesaw State on Friday before playing their first conference contest on Sunday with the Bears. Jocelyn Lemay has earned 21 goals this season, also adding 10 caused turnovers to lead the Chippewas. Anna Schoonover specialized in the circle, totaling 35 so far. Goalkeeper, Dominique Hamman, averages a .470 save percentage including 63 saves for Central Michigan.
