Stuart Named SoCon Player of the Year, Three Bears Honored

Nicolas Guillon, David Georgadze join Stuart in winning postseason awards
MACON, Ga. – Mercer junior Olivier Stuart was named the Southern Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year and was one of three Bears to earn conference postseason honors from the league's coaches on Tuesday afternoon.

Stuart additionally earned All-SoCon First Team honors for singles and doubles play, joining teammate Nicolas Guillon on both teams. David Georgadze was named to the SoCon All-Freshman Team to round out Mercer's three award winners.

Stuart, a native of Bussy Saint-Georges, France, is the first player in program history to earn conference player of the year honors. He is the No. 107-ranked singles played in the nation by the ITA as of Tuesday. The junior went 17-5 overall and 7-0 in SoCon action in singles play this spring. Stuart was a three-time SoCon Player of the Week this season as well.

Guillon went 14-10 overall in singles play and added a 5-2 mark against SoCon teams, primarily playing in flight two for the Bears. He and Stuart went 13-7 (6-1) as a doubles pairing en route to earning All-SoCon Doubles First Team honors.

Georgadze finished his freshman season in strong fashion, going 4-2 against SoCon opponents, primarily playing in the No. 6 flight. He went 7-11 overall.

Mercer earned the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3-seeded Chattanooga at 3 p.m. Thursday in the opening round of the 2019 SoCon Championship, held at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center in Macon.
