SCOUTING THE BEARS
For the first time this fall Mercer will have a multi-match week as they take on Georgia State and UAB. Most recently, the Bears battled The Citadel, falling 3-2 despite goals from Pace Stephenson and Kitchens. Trailing 2-0, Stephenson got the Bears on the board in the 30th minute, scoring after Jess Newton deflected Ciara Whitely's attempt. In the second half, Kitchens converted a penalty kick to equalize, but a late goal gave the Bulldogs the 3-2 win.
Kitchens leads the team with two goals and five points. She and Whitely are the two Bears to have assisted on goals. Three other Bears – Amaya Evans, Ally Fordham and Stephenson have notched goals in 2020. Senior goalkeeper Jordyn Ebert finds herself with 22 saves and one clean sheet through four matches. The Suwanee, Ga. native is 10th nationally in saves per match (5.50) and 17th in total saves.
