Orange Out, Senior Day Festivities Part Of Saturday Hoops Twinbill

Fans wearing orange will receive free admission, and the men’s team will honor two seniors.
MACON, Ga. – Mercer basketball fans can catch both the men's and women's basketball teams in action at Hawkins Arena for the final time this season on Saturday. The doubleheader will be an "orange out" - any fan who wears orange to support the Bears will receive free admission to both games. Fans attending the games will receive a free doughnut from Krispy Kreme and can take part in other exciting giveaways such orange t-shirts, orange rally towels and orange sunglasses.
The twinbill will start when the women's team battles Southern Conference leader UNCG at 2:00 p.m. The Mercer women have won the last four SoCon regular seasons titles and claimed the SoCon tournament crown the past two seasons to advance to NCAA tournament play.
The men's game against Wofford concludes the doubleheader and will tipoff at 4:30 p.m.
With two games left in the SoCon slate, the Bears are vying for a top-four seed heading into the Southern Conference tournament, the nation's oldest collegiate conference tournament. Mercer sits fourth in the SoCon standings with a 9-7 mark in league play. The Bears finished third in the SoCon standings in 2014-15, their first as a member of the conference but have not ended the regular season higher than fifth since then.
Prior to the game, head coach Greg Gary and staff will honor seniors Ethan Stair and Djordje Dimitrijevic. "Ethan and Djordje have shown a tremendous amount of grit, toughness and leadership," said Gary. They've done what seniors are supposed to do. A big crowd on Saturday means more energy in the arena. For them to be sent out with a packed house would be pretty cool."
Wofford has experienced plenty of recent success on the hardwood. Last year, the Terriers won the SoCon regular and tournament titles and went to the second round of the NCAA tournament before falling to Kentucky in a nail-biter. That success carried over into this season when Wofford traveled to Chapel Hill, N.C. and knocked off the North Carolina Tar Heels inside historic Carmichael Arena, 69-65.
The men will be going for the season sweep of the Terriers. The Bears have already defeated Wofford once this season, claiming a narrow 70-68 win over the Terriers in Spartanburg on Feb. 12.
