MAF Launches 2020 Donor Drive Challenge

The annual seven-day event raised $152,000 last year
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Athletic Foundation (MAF) launched its seventh-annual Donor Drive Challenge on Monday, kicking off the seven-day event (March 2-8) that aims to solicit $30,000 in donations.

"The Donor Drive Challenge is always a great event," said Brian Gerrity, Mercer Senior Associate AD and Executive Director of MAF. "It is the perfect illustration of the loyalty and passion of Mercer's fans and supporters. We have fantastic partners and their matching gifts for the challenge make this event possible!"

The Donor Drive Challenge is geared toward raising dollars for the Athletic Excellence Fund, which was developed to enhance Mercer's athletic offerings and student-athlete experience.Â
Every gift – regardless of size – donated between March 2-8 will count towards the goal of $30,000. If the Foundation can meet the $30,000 goal, its presenting sponsors of Cherokee Brick & Tile, Roland, Abbott & DeZoort Insurance, Auto Owners Insurance, Dozier Law Firm, LLC, and Five Star Automotive will provide a combined total of $30,000 in matching support.

"Every dollar raised during the Donor Drive Challenge impacts our 400 plus student-athletes. This year, our goal has increased dramatically. The funds raised during this challenge have been used to purchase equipment, fund assistant coaching positions, cover the cost of rings and sponsor the athletic end of year banquet. Without this challenge, hitting our goals would be next to impossible."
Over recent years, the Athletic Foundation has provided the resources for several key initiatives which have had dramatic impacts on the student-athlete experience. The Foundation helped provide funding to assist in the launch of the University's groundbreaking ESPN3 initiative while also aiding in the purchase of championship rings, investments in NCAA Tournament travel and other supporting funds for facility upgrades, operational budgets and scholarships.
