
Zeltwanger, Wurzel Named to ASUN All-Decade Team

Lindsey Zeltwanger and Haleigh Wurzel were a part of the women’s lacrosse team from 2015-18
ATLANTA – Former Mercer Bears Lindsey Zeltwagner and Haleigh Wurzel were named to the ASUN Conference's All-Decade Team, The league announced Thursday afternoon.
To be named to the All-Decade Team an individual must have competed for at least two years in the decade as an ASUN student-athlete. Individuals that obtained one of the following criteria were named to the team; three First Team All-Conference selections, four All-Conference selections or multiple Scholar-Athlete/Player of the Year honors. Individuals that obtained at least two of the following criteria were also named to the team; Player/Freshman/Defensive Player/Scholar-Athlete of the Year/Tournament MVP, three All-Conference selections or two First Team All-Conference selections.
Lindsey Zeltwanger started her Mercer career in 2015, where she started in 13 games, led the team with 50 points, 24 assists, and was second with 26 goals. She ended her freshman season being named on the All-ASUN Second team and the ASUN Freshman team. During her sophomore year, she became the first player in Mercer program history to reach 100 career points and became Mercer's career leader in points, goals, assists, and caused turnovers. She was named to the ASUN All-Conference Second Team and ASUN All-Academic team.
Lindsey started her junior year being named to the ASUN Preseason All-Conference Team. In the Bears game against Furman, Zeltwanger scored her 200th career point. She is ranked second in ASUN history with 209 career points and first in Mercer history with 296 career points. Zeltwanger became Mercer's first player in program history to score 100 goals. Zeltwanger also earned ASUN Player of the week honors three times. She was named to the ASUN All-Conference First Team, ASUN All-Academic Team, as well as being named the ASUN Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Haleigh Wurzel started her career for Mercer in 2015. She earned a start in 13 games as a freshman and tallied a .477 save percentage. She also notched a team-leading 40 groundballs and had 11 caused turnovers. In her sophomore year, she was Mercer's starting goalie. She led the ASUN and ranked third nationally with a .521 save percentage. She earned a spot on the ASUN All-Conference First Team and the ASUN All-Academic Team.
Wurzel started her junior year along with Zeltwanger on the ASUN Preseason All-Conference team. Earning a start in all 19 games, Wurzel recorded 156 saves and a team-leading 61 groundballs. Wurzel was named the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week the week of March 20-26. She ended her season with a spot on the ASUN All-Conference First team.
