Khurana to Be Student Speaker at Commencement Ceremony

Men’s tennis player Sachin Khurana is a triple-major at Mercer
MACON, Ga. – Mercer men's tennis senior Sachin Khurana will serve as the student speaker for the university's 2020 Macon Commencement Ceremony on August 8th.

Khurana is a triple-major in finance, economics and management with minors in mathematics, statistics and philosophy. He was a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.Â

"This is a tremendous honor for Sachin to cap his career at Mercer," head men's tennis coach Eric Hayes said. "On and off the court he has been such a role model with his tireless work ethic. He is a perfect example of what a student-athlete should be. I am proud of him."

As a senior he held a 4.0 grade-point average while excelling as an Honors Program Research Scholar. Khurana was a Mercer Presidential Scholar and a member of the Mercer men's tennis team. He was heavily involved in business organizations, including the Student-Managed Investment Fund, Financial Management Association, the Bear Market Newsletter and Beta Alpha Psi Finance Society. He earned a number of awards for his innovative and entrepreneurial spirit and has started his career as an investment banking analyst in New York City.

Khurana will be awarded the Louie D. Newton General Excellence Medal during the 9:00 ceremony in the presence of the graduates and faculty of the Stetson-Hatcher School of Business. This award is presented to the graduating student who best exemplifies scholastic achievement, personal integrity and character, service to the campus community and commitment to spiritual values.

Throughout his four-year career, Khurana went 7-3 in singles action. During his junior year, he saw limited action. Prior to his senior year being cut short, Khurana was 2-2 in singles action. His two wins came against Alabama A&M and Alcorn State.Â
