Dougherty Named Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Following two double-doubles in the first three games, Jaron Dougherty was honored by the SoCon as the first Player of the Week presented by GEICO of the 2021-22 season.

Dougherty, a senior from Buford, Georgia, averaged 17.3 points and 12.3 rebounds in the home contests against Wake Forest, App State and Troy. In the App State matchup, Dougherty collected 20 boards, and 13 of them came on the defensive end. She tallied a season-high 19 points in the home stand-closing win over Troy, fresh off of tallying 18 in the App State victory. Prior to the start of the season, she was included in the SoCon's all-conference team. In January 2021, she was honored as the league's Player of the Month.

Mercer will hit the road for the first time this week, matching up with Georgia in Athens this Thursday, November 18. Following a four game stretch on the road, Mercer will return home on November 29 to host Kennesaw State.
