MACON, Ga. – Mercer continues the quest for their first win of the 2021 season with a game in Nashville, Tenn. against the Vanderbilt Commodore on March 3 at 2 p.m. (ET).  Â

ABOUT THE BEARS
Mercer is coming off an 11-14 loss at Winthrop on Saturday. Hailey Rhatigan moved up in the Mercer record books with her two goals at Winthrop. She takes over as fifth in career goals, and is nine away from becoming the fifth player to hit the 100-goal milestone. Her two goals, which came from free-position shots, also puts her five away from becoming the first player to record 30 free-position goals. Two Bears led the team with three goals each at Winthrop-sophomore Chloe Schaeffer and graduate student Lily Morin. Sophomore Shannon Urey had her first collegiate start at Winthrop. She registered two goals on two shots on goal. Haley Gerold and Hannah Lind led the Bears with three caused turnovers each. Kileigh Casey and Isabella Yagodich followed with two, while Chloe

SCOUTING VANDERBILT
Vanderbilt is coming off a loss at No. 1 North Carolina on Sunday. Senior Elizabeth Scarrone led the Commodores with two goals on the day. Scarrone, along with attacker Maddie Souza, leads the Dores with six goals total. Goalkeepr Paige Gunning tied her career high 13 saves. It was a big day for Vanderbilt's Nellie Blaze, who scored her first collegiate goal against the Tar Heels, while junior Bri Gross registered her 100th draw control. The Commodores welcome nine freshman faces to the squad. Head coach Beth Hewitt enters her third season at the helm of the Commodores. In her tenure, Hewitt led the 2019 Dores to a 10-6 record, the first winning season in nine years.

The Bears will head home and welcome the Winthrop Eagles for their first home game on Tuesday March 9. The game is set for 3 p.m.
