Mercer Hits the Road for Two Matches

The Bears will travel to Samford and Chattanooga.
MACON, Ga. – With two weekends left in the regular season, the Mercer women's soccer team is set to play its final two road matches of the regular season at Samford and Chattanooga.
The Bears currently sit second in the Southern Conference standings with 12 points and will battle third-place Samford (11 points) on Friday at 7 p.m. ET before taking on the fourth-place Chattanooga Mocs (10 points) on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. Â

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
Mercer is 3-12-1 against Samford. The Bears defeated the Bulldogs in the 2019 regular season thanks to Amaya Evans' goal in the 88th minute, but Samford won the tournament semifinal matchup by a 3-0 score. Â
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Mercer has won four consecutive matches to move into second-place in the Southern Conference standings with 12 points. Kendall Cook scored the match-winner in last Friday's 1-0 defeat of UNCG and added two assists in Sunday's 3-1 win over VMI. In the win over UNCG, Jordyn Ebert passed Teresa Patterson (1990-93) for second all-time with 329 saves. The senior goalkeeper made six stops against the Keydets on Sunday afternoon and now has 335 saves to her credit. Ebert has recorded 16 career clean sheets and is two away from passing Jean Worts (2006-09) for second in the Mercer women's soccer record books.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Samford is 3-0-1 this spring and has three multi-goal scorers – Taylor Yount, Alex Bice and Ella Simpson. Yount has scored on four occasions, while Bice has found the back of the net three times with two match-winners. Simpson has two goals to her credit. In goal, Morgan McAslan has made 17 saves while posting a 0.40 goals against average, which ranks second in the Southern Conference to Furman's Addison Corn (0.227) and 22nd nationally. Â
