Copp Earns Top-Five Finish at SoCon Championship

Tyler Copp earned All-SoCon Tournament honors after tying for fifth place

GREENSBORO, Ga. – Senior Tyler Copp of the Mercer men's golf team finished Southern Conference Championship tied for fifth at Reynolds Lake Oconee – Oconee course after the final round on Tuesday.

With a top-five finish, Copp earned All-Tournament honors. The Ann Arbor, Mich., native carded his second round under par over the final 18 holes, shooting a 1-under par. Junior Martin Plukka also posted a top-10 finish for the Bears, tying for ninth place.

COACH KAYDEN'S TAKE
"I'm proud of the guys' efforts today. We ended up with the second lowest team score today, and the course was playing more difficult than it did yesterday with the pin locations. I'm proud of their efforts in shooting the second-lowest score of the final round with the toughest setup. Overall, we just had a bad first round. We were very competitive after that for the final 36 holes, and we're very excited about the future with the guys we have returning for next year.

"Tyler had another great tournament as he ties for fifth. What a great career he's had here, and I just can't express how proud I am of all of his accomplishments and the player he has become in the four years he's been at Mercer. We really appreciate everything he has done for this program.

"Lino also finished on a strong note, and it's always great to see a senior finish strong in their final round. We really appreciate everything he has done throughout his time here as well. He played hard through the end, and I'm really proud of him.

"Martin also finished in the top-10 this week. He wasn't happy with his round today, but he's really been playing well over the last couple of weeks. It's great to see a player that's come through for us at the end of the year like Martin has."
