The duo represented Mercer as part of the District IV team.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jordyn Ebert and Ally Fordham garnered First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District IV honors, the organization announced on Thursday afternoon.
The College Sports Information Directors of America recognizes student-athletes for their performances on the pitch and in the classroom. Eight districts represent NCAA Division I, and Mercer is in District IV, which contains universities from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico and South Carolina. The academic honor is the second this spring for both Ebert and Fordham. In May, the duo earned Scholar All-South Region Third Team honors from the United Soccer Coaches. Their selection to CoSIDA's Academic All-District IV team marks the first time since 2016 that Mercer has had a player represented. That season, forward Maddie Clark received recognition.
"I'm very proud of Jordyn and Ally," said head coach Tony Economopoulos. "They have worked extremely hard on the soccer field and in the classroom. This award is well deserved and exemplifies their hard work. Our staff is excited that they have decided to return for the 2021 season. They are leaders on and off the pitch."
Ebert has had one of the most impressive careers in the history of Mercer goalkeepers and recently announced that she will return for the 2021 campaign while pursuing her master's degree. She completed her undergraduate degree in biology with a 3.416 grade-point average and is a three-time SoCon Honor Roll member and two-time Academic All-SoCon selection. On the pitch, she has appeared in 79 matches and made 64 starts. The Suwanee, Ga., native has played more than 6,500 minutes in goal and has a 36-30-5 record with 359 saves and 16 shutouts. She finds herself in the top-three in numerous career records categories for the Mercer women's soccer program. Her 359 saves and 36 wins rank second all-time, while she sits third overall with 16 clean sheets. Ebert won a single-season best 14 matches as a junior in 2019 and shutout seven opponents in the same season, which is second to Lauren Burch's eight clean sheets in 2003, a single-season record.
Fordham, a forward, will also return for the 2021 season. The El Cajon, Calif., native finished her undergraduate degree in industrial management with a 3.974 grade-point average and has a 4.0 graduate school GPA. She is pursuing a Master of Science in Engineering with a specialization in Engineering Management. Fordham has received SoCon Honor Roll recognition three times and was a member of the Fall 2019 Academic All-SoCon team. For her career, she has played in 58 matches and made 37 starts. Fordham has scored 20 goals and added three assists with her best statistical season of nine goals and one assist (19 points) coming over the course of the 2020-21 season. She led the SoCon last season with five match-winning goals and was second in total points and points per match.
