Roosevelt Lofton’s squad was honored for the second straight season.

NEW ORLEANS – For the second consecutive year, head coach Roosevelt Lofton's team was honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA).

The USTFCCA announced that the Bears were named a USTFCAA All-Academic Team on Thursday afternoon for having higher than a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average. 253 teams received recognition, and Lofton's Bears were one of 143 teams to boast higher than a 3.4 GPA with a 3.406

The academic honors continue to roll in for the track and field squad. Earlier in July, the Southern Conference announced that nine student athletes – Lauryn Dancy, Tara Davis, Tessola Duncan, Carlandra Jones, Marion Meadows, Samaiya O'dneal, Ceylani Rembert, Chidimma Uwaomah and Cherrish Wright – were named to the Southern Conference Honor Roll. Additionally, Jerrica Hanson, Ashley McMahon, Annalise Porreca and Marina Van Sickle received Academic All-SoCon honors.
