Women’s Soccer Home Opener Canceled
8/22/2021 1:41:00 PM | Women's Soccer
The match will not be rescheduled.
MACON, Ga. – Mercer women's soccer's home opener against the Campbell Fighting Camels was canceled less than 30 minutes prior to its start time due to unplayable field conditions.
Despite sunny skies, the field had accumulated excess water due to inclement weather throughout the week and had not had time to drain. After a consolation with both coaching staffs and Sunday's officials, the match was canceled due to unplayable field conditions.
Mercer will hit the road next week to take on Stetson (Aug. 27, 7 p.m.) and North Florida (Aug. 29, 6 p.m.). The Bears will return to Betts Stadium on Sept. 3 for a 7 p.m. match against Mississippi Valley State.
