MACON, Ga. – Mercer is back at home in Hawkins Arena set to host the VMI Keydets on Jan. 13, after its previous conference away game against Furman. The tip-off is slated at 7 p.m. in Macon.  StatBroadcastÂ

LAST TIME OUT:
The Bears (8-7, 1-1 SoCon) are coming off a 81-66 loss in the Bon Secours Wellness Arena against the Furman Paladins. In that contest, four Bears reached double-digits in scoring with Kamar Robertson (14), Jalen Johnson (13), Felipe Haase (11), and Shawn Walker Jr. (10). Robertson went 5-5 from the Free Throw line. Five different Bears recorded four rebounds apiece. Johnson and Haase combined for eight rebounds.Â

SERIES HISTORY:
The series is set at 14-3 for the Orange & Black as Mercer leads the previous history between the two as of Dec. 9, 2006. The Bears are on four-game winning streak against VMI stretching back to 1/15/20. The last meeting was in a neutral setting on Mar. 7, 2021, where Mercer won 73-59.
SCOUTING THE KEYDETS:
VMI (9-7, 2-2 SoCon) is coming off a 56-72 defeat against UNCG in Lexington, Va. VMI is now 2-2 in the conference while UNCG moves to 1-1. Jake Stephens scored a game high 22 points on 6-of-15 shooting along with three assists to lead one other Keydet in double figures on Saturday. Kamdyn Curfman connected on four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points and logged 10 rebounds. Stephens also shot 100% from the line going 8-8 on the day. The Spartans forced the Keydets into just 35 percent shooting overall (18-52), 28 percent from three-point range (10-36) and 15 turnovers.
