Mercer to Host its SoCon Opener Against Samford

MACON, Ga. –Mercer will host the Samford Bulldogs for its annual Faith & Family Night in Hawkins Arena on Jan. 5 for the Bear's Southern Conference season opener. LAST TIME OUT:
The Bears are coming off an 69-65 loss in Hawkins Arena against Troy. In that contest, four Bears reached double-digits in scoring with Jacksen Greco (18), a career high, Kamar Robertson (12), Jalen Johnson (11), and Felipe Haase (10). Greco set three career highs in his outing against the Trojans in points, 3PTA/M, and minutes played. Robertson and Haase combined for 15 rebounds. Robertson shot 100% on 5-for-5 shooting at the free throw line.

SERIES HISTORY:
The recent series is set at 16-2 between these two teams since Nov. 29, 2001, with Mercer on top. The Bears lead the overall series as well at 74-45. The last time the Bulldogs defeated the Bears was Feb. 23, 2002.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS:
The Bulldogs are coming off a tough 81-49 loss against Furman in Timmons Arena. Samford (10-3) was led by Jaden Campbell, who finished the night with 15 points off 5-of-15 shooting from the field. Wesley Cardet and Logan Dye both finished with eight points while Cardet recorded seven rebounds. The Bulldogs shot a low 29.5 percent from the field. However, Samford was quick on defense as they finished with 12 steals and forced 16 total turnovers. Samford drops to 0-1 in the SoCon.
