MACON, Ga. – Mercer will travel to South Carolina to face the Furman Paladins in the Bon Secours Wellness Arena on Jan. 8, after its previous conference victory against Samford. The tip-off is slated at 4 p.m. in Greenville.  StatBroadcastÂ

LAST TIME OUT:
The Bears are coming off a 83-80 victory at home in Hawkins Arena against Samford. In that contest, four Bears reached double-digits in scoring with Felipe Haase (24), Shannon Grant (23), a career high, Shawn Walker Jr. (12) a season high, and Kamar Robertson (11). Grant, with his first career double-double, set multiple career highs in his outing against the Bulldogs in points (23), FGA/M (10-14), minutes played (23), and rebounds (10). Robertson and James Glisson III combined for 11 rebounds. Haase shot 10-for-11 at the free throw line.Â

SERIES HISTORY:
The series is set at 9-20 for the Bears as Furman leads the overall history between the two.. Their last meeting was in Hawkins on Feb. 2021 where Furman won 70-60.
SCOUTING THE PALADINS:
Furman is coming off a 58-54 win against UNCG in the Greensboro Coliseum. Furman is now 2-1 in the conference while UNCG moves to 0-1. Mike Bothwell scored a game high 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting along with three assets to lead three other Paladins in double figures on Wednesday. Alex Hunter connected on five 3-pointers and finished with 16 points and logged three steals. Marcus Foster poured in 13 points, highlighted by four 3-pointers, and eight rebounds. Jalen Slawson registered nine points, three assists, three blocks and two steals. Foster led the Paladins in the second half with 10 points and four rebounds while shooting 3-of-4 from the field, including a 3-for-3 mark behind the 3-point line.Â
