Lindsay Bell’s Consecutive Shutouts Get SoCon Honor
Macon, Ga.—Lindsay Bell's back-to-back shutouts has earned the Mercer Bears women's soccer team goalkeeper the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor for the week ending October 10.
Bell, a sophomore from Marietta, Georgia helped the Bears to a 1-0-1 week in two road conference games. Mercer battled to a scoreless tie at Wofford with Bell making two saves. She had a busy Sunday afternoon in the Bears' 2-0 win at Furman, making six saves.
For the season, Bell is 7-3-5 with a 1.00 goals against average and has three solo shutouts, as well as combining with Belle Martinez on another pair of shutouts.
The Bears (7-3-5 overall, 2-1-3 SoCon) play at The Citadel (the team the Bears are tied with for third place in the conference) Friday Oct. 14 at 3 p.m.
