Mercer Bears Host Dig Orange Match

The Mercer Volleyball team will compete in two home matches this weekend against UNCG AND WCU.
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Bears volleyball team will face Western Carolina and UNC Greensboro this weekend in Hawkins arena. The Bears will host the Dig Orange Match on Friday, Oct. 21 to support the Jay's Hope Foundation.Â
This will be the 6th year that the Bears have supported this organization. The team will hold a silent auction with all proceeds going to the Jay's Hope Foundation. Supporters can also click here to donate on Mercer Volleyball's behalf.

SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTSÂ
WCU sits second in the Southern Conference with a 6-2 record. They sit third in kills, hitting percentage, and assists as a team. The Catamounts feature two middle blockers SoCon's Defensive player of the week (Aug. 30) Eden Punch and (Sept 27) Johnna Robinson. They also have two-time SoCon's Offensive player of the week (Aug. 30 and Sept. 27) Merry Gebel.Â
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
UNC Greensboro sits eighth in the conference with a 2-6 record. The Spartans lead the series 11-8 after taking a 3-0 win against the Bears earlier this season. Mercer will have to watch out for outside hitter Taylor Robertson who leads the team in kills (213) and averages 3.09 kills per set.Â
NOTABLES
- Mercer currently sits sixth in the Southern Conference with a 3-5 record.Â
- Annie Karle still sits third in both kills (275) and serving aces (27) in the conference after a phenomenal match against Wofford.Â
- MKiera McCarles is in the top five for assists with 624 this season. She is averaging 8.67 per set. Â
