Bears’ Duo Into Regionals Sweet 16

Tallahassee, Fla.—Mercer men's tennis top doubles duo of Nem Stefanovic and Lucas Dini won a pair of matches on Friday and has advanced to the round of 16 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regionals on the campus of Florida State.

Stefanovic and Dini began their doubles competition with an 8-6 victory over Florida Gulf Coast's Carter Bradford and Juan Lopez. The Bears' duo then got a huge win, knocking off the sixth seeded pair of David Tortera and Erik Grevelius of USF 8-5.

That moves the Bears pair into a 4:30 match on Saturday Oct. 22. Mercer's other doubles combination of Samuel MacLeod and Mariano Argote lost to Florida Atlantic's Kevin Huempfner and Hunter Robins 8-5.

In his first singles match, Dini lost to Cooper White of Central Florida 7-6 (2); 6-3. Dini will play in the consolation bracket on Saturday.
