Bears, Bucs In Tourney Clash

Conference Tournament Ready To Roll
Macon, Ga—The ten Southern Conference womens soccer teams are set to decide the conference tournament. The Mercer Bears begin play as the No. 3 seed on Friday against No. 6 seed East Tenneesee State.
The tournament features two first round matches on Oct. 25. The winner of the match between No. 8 Wofford and No. 9 Furman will advance to the quarterfinals bracket in Chattanooga, and play the No. 1 seed, Chattanooga Oct. 28. That will be one of two games that day in that bracket with No.4 UNCG meeting No. 5 Western Carolina.
The other first round match up on Oct. 25 pits No. 7 The Citadel, against No. 10 VMI. That winner will advance to Birmingham and face host Samford Oct. 28. The other game in the Samford bracket is the Bears-ETSU match up.
The winners of Friday's games in each bracket will play in the semifinals Oct. 30. Those survivors will meet in the tournament championship at the home field of the higher seed. For the Bears to host the championship game, they would have to win two games and have any team other than Chattanooga advance from that bracket.
