Ille’s Three Goal Game Earns Award
Macon, Ga—Michael Ille's hat trick for the Mercer men's soccer team in a 3-2 win over East Tennessee State Oc.t 29 , has earned him the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Ille's three goals give him six on the season, tops on the Bears. Last Saturday's win came in the final game of the regular season. This is the final week the Southern Conference is naming an offensive and defensive players of the week.
Ille is the first Bear to be Offensive Player of the Week. Three players, goalkeepers Trevor McMullen, and Brant Zulauf and defender Sekou Agard have been named Defensive Player of the Week during the season.
The Bears are gearing up for a quarter-final game in the Southern Conference Tournament. Mercer plays Virginia Military Institute Friday Nov. 4 in Johnson City, Tenn. At 3 p.m. The Bears are the defending tournament champion. The Bears are seeking their fifth tournament title since 2016 (2016, 2017, 2019, 2021). The tournament winner receives the Southern Conference automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
