
Three Bears Named to Academic All-District Team

Student-Athletes Must Maintain 3.5 GPA throughout season to qualify
Macon, Ga. - Mercer women's soccer student-athletes Kylie Buchanan, Mackenzie Gassie, and Jamie Hlebec were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, which was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Kylie Buchanan started in 15 games this season. The midfielder and Dacula, Georgia native assisted on four goals and twenty-seven shots during her fifth year. Buchanan's first assist of the year helped Mercer come back and tie against Campbell. Buchanan is A Master of Business Administration student with a Healthcare emphasis.
Mackenzie Gassie played and started in 19 games this season. The midfielder and Winter Park, Florida native added two assists and 16 shots this season. Her two assists this year came against Georgia State and Charleston University. Gassie is a Senior Finance major.
Jamie Hlebec, a defender from Milton, GA started in 19 games this season and appeared in 20 matches this season. Hlebec finished the year with one assist and earned a spot on the Southern Conference postseason all-tournament team. Hlebec is a Junior, Marketing Major.
To qualify for the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, each of these students was required to maintain at least a 3.5 GPA while playing in a majority of the team's games. Voting for the Academic All-America begins today and closes next Tuesday at 11:59 pm.
