Bears Receive SoCon Honors

Dylan Gaither were named to the All-Conference First Team. Gaither sits second for career points (74), second for shots (44), and shots per game (2.94) in the Southern Conference. He has led the team so far this season with 33 points. Other SoCon honors included the Pre-Season All-Conference team.Â
Ousman Jabang, Kadeem Agard, Sekou Agard, and Trevor McMullen were named to the All-Confernce Second Team. Jabang had two goals and four assists on the season. Jabang is fifth in the SoCon in assists per game (.33). Kadeem Agard is the second-highest goal scorer for the team with a .192 SHT%. He sits fifth in the conference for assists. He is 10th in the SoCon in points per game (.75). Sekou Agard is no stranger to conference accolades, as he was dubbed SoCon Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 27. He has played 1214 minutes for the Bears this season with 17 games played. McMullen has had a strong season with the Bears, with 1229 minutes played with 57 saves this season. He was also named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 6.
Fernando Arteaga was dubbed into the Freshman All-SoCon Team. Arteaga has had two goals and six points for the Bears this season. He has a .714SOG% and is a key component of Mercer's Offense.Â
League coaches voted on a pair of all-conference teams, an all-freshman team and the four individual accolades. Coaches are not allowed to vote for either themselves or their own student-athletes. The first and second teams include 11 members, voted based on position, while the all-freshman team has 11 members, but does not give regard to position.
