Bears Suffer First Home Loss To Alabama, 88-52

Alabama shot 51 percent from the floor compared to 39 percent for Mercer
MACON, Ga. - Alabama handed the Mercer women's basketball team its first home loss of the season, defeating the Bears 88-52 Wednesday night at Hawkins Arena.
In the lead up to the game, the Bears took the opportunity to help benefit and spread awareness about the Merrie Christmas Project and Merrie's Closet. Mercer players wore custom Merrie Christmas Project shirts during warmups.
The Bears shot 38.5 percent from the field, and were 5-of-8 (62.5 percent) from three-point range. Alabama shot 50.7 percent from the field, the highest shooting percentage by any team against the Bears this season.
Mercer had 23 turnovers to Alabama's eight. The Crimson Tide had 28 points off those Mercer turnovers. Amoria Neal-Tysor led Mercer with 13 points. Summah Evans had 10 points to go with seven rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Turnovers while trying to break Alabama's press hurt the Bears, as they found themselves in an early 11-0 hole midway through the first quarter. Down 23-5, Mercer went on a 10-0 run, its longest of the night to make it 23-15 Alabama.
Alabama started the second half like the started the first, getting out to a fast start by going on a 9-2 run to start the third quarter. Amoria Neal-Tysor and Brittany Reeves combined to score 10 of Mercer's 11 points in the third quarter.
