SERIES HISTORY
This is the second meeting between the Bears and Gators. Last season, Florida took a 23-5 decision in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Gainesville's Dizney Stadium in May. Â This will be Mercer's third game in two seasons against an opponent from the American Athletic Conference.
SCOUTING MERCER
Mercer is led offensively by the Big South offensive player of the week – Hailey Rhatigan – who totaled 13 points on 11 goals and a pair of assists in last week's two contests against Presbyterian and Stetson. Chloe Schaeffer also added six goals and four assists last week. The Bears have won their last two and four of five as the outlier being a dropped road decision to fifth-ranked North Carolina. Emma Pizzo and Ainsley Malamala have caused eight turnovers, while Isea Cryne has stopped 51 shots.
SCOUTING FLORIDA
The Gators enter the matchup with a 6-4 record having faced five ranked squads and another two who were receiving votes. They are paced by the one of the American's best duos in Emma LoPinto and Danielle Pavinelli – both of which garnered league recognition for their past performances – and have combined for an impressive 91 points through 10 games. In their 21-10 road win at Arizona State, Pavinelli registered seven goals on just 10 shots to pace UF in Tempe on Sunday. Sarah Reznick has seen the bulk of the time in cage for the Gators, totaling over 537 minutes in net and has made 71 saves on the season.
