
Mercer Football Ranked No. 14 By The College Football Network After Week 0

Bears moved up two spots in rankings
MACON, Ga. – The College Football Network released its FCS Top 25 Rankings following the games played in week zero. Mercer came in at No. 14, following its 63-13 win over Morehead State, Saturday night at Five Star Stadium.
The Bears were one of three teams from the SoCon ranked. Chattanooga was No. 11 and ETSU was No. 17. The Bears moved up two spots after being ranked No. 16 in the preseason poll.
Mercer set numerous school records in the win over Morehead State. The offense exploded for 63 points and set a school record for total yards in a game, with 625 total yards.
The College Football Network also named wide receiver Ty James as the FCS Offensive Player of the Week. James finished Saturday with 5 receptions for 192 yards and 3 touchdowns. James' three receiving touchdowns were the most by a Bear in a single game, since the football program was reinstated in 2013.
Elsewhere, Light On Sports named quarterback Fred Payton as its FCS Offensive Player of the Week. Payton completed 11 of 17 passes for 248 yards and threw for four touchdowns in the win.
Light On Sports also named Devron Harper its FCS Special Teams Player of the Week. Harper returned a 93-yard kickoff for a touchdown.

Mercer travels to Jordan-Hare Stadium for a matchup with the Auburn Tigers on Saturday, Sept. 3, at 7 p.m. ET.
