Glus, Stephens Voted Mercer Student-Athletes Of The Week

MACON – Carolina Glus' high-scoring week and Eli Stephens' merciless work in the batter's box led to the pair of Mercerians receiving the Mercer Student-Athletes of the Week honors for the week ending on March 9.
Glus, a senior attacker on the women's lacrosse team, scored five goals across two games last week. The Hershey, Pennsylvania, native recorded a hat-trick against No. 7 Florida this past Saturday, days after scoring two goals in Mercer's win over Stetson. Glus currently leads her squad with 16 goals this season. Glus also picked up an assist, forced two turnovers and picked up two ground balls against Stetson.
Stephens, a sophomore catcher/outfielder on the baseball team, was a crucial piece to the Bears' 3-1 week. Stephens came off the bench against No. 20 Florida State and finished the night 2-for-2 from the plate with a home run and an RBI single. In a three-game stretch against Alcorn State, the Warner Robins, Georgia, native went 7-for-10 with two home runs, seven RBI, three walks and six runs. Stephens finished the week with a .750 batting average (9-for-12), 2.300 OPS, three home runs, nine RBI, seven runs and three walks.
Glus and the women's lacrosse team have two huge home games coming up including a game against Arizona State on Saturday, March 14 at 2:00 p.m. and a Tuesday evening tilt with No. 9 Clemson on March 17 at 4:00 p.m. Both games will be held at Five Star Stadium with free admission. Stephens and the baseball team are currently in the middle of a five-game road trip. The Bears are scheduled to play three games against Tennessee Tech from Friday, March 13 through Sunday, March 16. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
