Second straight Bear to earn league honor
Macon, Ga—With three goals in two games, the Mercer Bears' Jada Moorman is the Southern Conference women's soccer Offensive Player of the Week, for the week ending August 28. Moorman is the second straight Bear to win the award. Kendall Cook won the recognition in the league's first week of play.
Moorman scored her first college goal to open the scoring against College of Charleston on Aug. 26. It took her only five minutes to register her second goal, which proved to be the game winning goal as the Bears won 4-1.
Just two days later, the freshman from Cincinnati, Ohio, scored her third goal, capping off the Bears' 4-1 win over Stetson. Her three goals lead the Southern Conference.
"Very happy for Jada," Bears' coach Tony Economopoulos said. "She provides a burst of energy for us. It's a well deserved honor for her."
Mercer returns to action on Thursday Sept. 1, in a road contest at Troy, Alabama. The next home game at Betts Stadium is Sunday Sept. 4 against North Florida at 6 p.m.
